Soon he becomes aware of the existence of magic, which makes him re-evaluate the chances of Fillory being strictly a work of fiction. Later on he gets a chance to visit Fillory itself, which in turn forces him to change his notions about Fillory yet again.

In The Magician's Land is is also revealed that while there are likely only these seven books written about Chatwins by C. Plover or Chatwins themselves, there are many more books in existence about Fillory in general.
