The Fillory and Further is a fictional book series in Lev Grossman's The Magicians trilogy (The Magicians, The Magician King, The Magician's Land). These books are about the Chatwin children's adventures in Fillory. The first five volumes are written by Christopher Plover and are the only ones known to the general audience. Book 6 being written by Jane Chatwin herself and book 7 by Rupert Chatwin.
The trilogy’s protagonist, Quentin Coldwater, had been deeply enamoured with these books to the point of obsession since his early childhood.

Role in the Story[]
At the beginning of the story Quentin’s narrative talks about them as of pieces of fictional literature. Soon he becomes aware of the existence of magic, which makes him re-evaluate the chances of Fillory being strictly a work of fiction. Later on he gets a chance to visit Fillory itself, which in turn forces him to change his notions about Fillory yet again.
In The Magician's Land is is also revealed that while there are likely only these seven books written about Chatwins by C. Plover or Chatwins themselves, there are many more books in existence about Fillory in general.
